What shipped
Members fix their own mailing address now
A member moves across town and wants the bill at the new place. Until this month, the member portal let them ask: they filled in a correction request, it landed in a queue in the office, and someone retyped it into the customer record. Two people did one job, and the bill could go out to the old address in between.
What changed
The portal's Profile page now lets the member make the change themselves:
- Name on account: who the bill is addressed to.
- Mailing address: street, city, state and ZIP, where the paper bill goes.
- Their contact details.
They click Save changes, see "Saved.", and it takes effect straight away. The next bill goes to the new address.
Why the office can live with that
Every change a member makes is on the audit trail, field by field.
The office doesn't approve each change, but it can always see exactly what changed and when. The address is checked against Google as it's saved; if the check fails, what the member typed is still kept, because they know their address better than a map does.
The service address, where the water or service actually is, stays office-only. The portal says so: "To change your service address, call the office." Moving the bill is self-service; moving the service isn't.
The Corrections queue on the staff side is gone, along with the "Request a correction" links in the portal. There's nothing left to retype.
Signing in got cleaner too
The member portal now keeps its own sign-in, separate from the staff app. Being signed into BasicBMS in the office no longer makes the portal look signed in, and a signed-out member lands on the portal login instead of an empty account page.
The honest part
Members can't change the service address, the account number or anything about billing. A member whose account has no mailing address gets one created when they first save. And there's no approval step: if your office needs to review every change before it counts, this isn't that.
Still modular
Start with what you run. Six core modules (Customers, Employees, Suppliers, Payables, Invoices, and a full general ledger) for $150 a month. Add Work Orders, Communication, or Projects for $25 each. Every user included, no per-seat games, no forced bundles.
Implementation is a one-time build: we configure your modules around your workflow and load your data, so you don't start on a blank screen.
